History
The trolleybus system was opened in the city on September 1, 2002 . The line connected the districts in the southwestern part of the city, on the so-called Monastery Hill (Mongore).
On October 3, 2004, the only line was extended from a trolleybus depot in Mongor to a department store in the central part of the city.
Plans for the development of the trolleybus network included the construction of the following lines:
- ring in the central part of the city, from the department store along the streets of Victory, Ulyanovsk, International to st. Chapaeva;
- from st. Victory along the streets of Ulyanovsk, Decembrists, Trunk to the eastern outskirts of the city;
- from the ring st. Obraztsovskaya / st. Komarova through the southern regions to OAO Plastic.
Routes that were designed open after the opening of the line:
- No. 2 Syzran 1 - Syzran 2 - Children's Clinic;
- No. 3 Beach - Volga;
- No. 4 Cathedral - Yunas.
Since November 1, 2009, due to the high loss-making performance, trolleybus traffic in Syzran has been stopped. Trolleybuses and other infrastructure are mothballed.
In July 2014, the dismantling of the contact network on the streets of the city began.
In 2015, the contact network in the city was completely dismantled.
