Wireless ad-hoc network

Wireless ad-hoc network ( wireless dynamic network , wireless self-organizing network ) - a decentralized wireless network that does not have a constant structure. Client devices connect on the fly, forming a network. Each node in the network tries to forward data destined to other nodes. At the same time, the determination of which node to send data to is dynamically done based on the network connectivity. This is different from wired networks and managed wireless networks, in which routers (in wired networks) or access points (in managed wireless networks) perform the task of managing data flows.

The first wireless self-organizing networks were packet radio networks since the 1970s , funded by DARPA after the ALOHAnet project.

Application

Minimal configuration and rapid deployment allows the use of self-organizing networks in emergency situations such as natural disasters and military conflicts.

Depending on the criterion, wireless self-organizing networks can be classified as follows: according to hierarchy (peer-to-peer, mesh networks - networks with mesh topology ), by application ( wireless sensor network , transport ad hoc network , by mobility ( mobile self-organizing networks ).

Security in self-organizing wireless networks

Due to the dynamically changing network topology and the lack of centralized management, this type of network is vulnerable to a number of attacks. Therefore, the security aspect is very important in such networks.

Technologies Used in Building Wireless Self- Networks

  • Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1)
  • WiFi (IEEE 802.11)
  • ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4)
  • ONE-NET
  • Wideband networking waveform
