Oslo class frigates ( Norwegian. Oslo-klassen ) - a series of Norwegian frigates of the 1960s . Built in 1963 - 1967 at the Marinens Hovedverft shipyards in Norway. The design of the Oslo class frigates was based on US Day class frigates. During their service, frigates were repeatedly modernized. All ships of this class, with the exception of the head one, which sank during a storm in 1994 , were withdrawn from service in the late 1990s and early 2000s to be replaced by Fridtjof Nansen class frigates. The only surviving ship of the Oslo class, Narvik, has been turned into a floating museum in Horten .
