Russian national award "Poet" . [1] Established in 2005 by the Society for the Promotion of Russian Poetry in conjunction with RAO UES of Russia .
Awarded annually to one of the poets of modern Russia . Only living Russian-speaking poets can become laureates of the award. Nationality and place of residence do not matter.
The charter of the prize forbids giving it twice to the same person, as well as posthumous rewarding and dividing the award into several participants. Laureates of the Poet Prize are awarded a commemorative diploma, a special badge and a monetary reward, the amount of which is equivalent to 1,500,000 rubles.
In May 2018, Anatoly Chubais , who holds the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation , announced the closure of the Poet Prize at the award ceremony, which was held at the Central House of Writers. The government considered that the award fulfilled all the requirements that were set before the organizers. In place of this prize, a new prize "Poetry" will be created for the further development of creative activity, it will be promoted among young people [2] [3] .
