Sharbakty ( trek. Sharbayty , until 11.04.2001 - Shcherbakty [1] ) - a village (formerly urban-type settlement), the administrative center of the Shcherbakty district of Pavlodar region . The administrative center and the only settlement of the Sharbaktinsky rural district. The KATO code is 556830100 [2] .

Geographical position
It is located on the Kulundinskaya Plain 85 km northeast of Pavlodar at an altitude of 152 meters above sea level.

Population
In 1999, the village population was 8945 people (4339 men and 4606 women) [3] . According to the 2009 census , 7,915 people lived in the village (3,753 men and 4,162 women) [3] .
It is named after the natural boundary “Sharbakty” (literally translated “natural boundary surrounded by a fence”). The term has undergone adaptation of the Ukrainian language and it turned out Shcherbakty.
The following enterprises were built in the village: elevator, furniture factory, sewing workshop, regional industrial complex, oil depot, repair shops, motor transport enterprise.
In 1963, the Shcherbaktinsky College of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture was founded on the basis of the Shcherbakty School of Agricultural Mechanization.
Natives
Shcherbakty is the birthplace of the poet Muzafar Alimbaev .
