WinZip is a shareware file archiver and compressor from Corel for Microsoft Windows , OS X , iOS, and Android operating systems. ZIP is the main format, although other archive formats are supported.

Features

History
ZIP format archiver ( PKZIP ) was originally created for MS-DOS in 1989 by PKWare [5] .
WinZip was created in early 1990 as a commercial GUI for PKZIP . Around 1996, the creators of WinZip included compression code from the PKZIP project, thereby eliminating the need for a console version.
From version 6.0 to version 9.0, registered users could download the latest software versions using the initial registration information, and thereby receive updates for free. Starting with version 10.0, the free update system was disabled [6] . WinZip is available in both standard and professional versions.
In May 2006, Corel Corporation, known for its WordPerfect and CorelDRAW product line, announced that it had completed the acquisition of WinZip Computing.
Prior to version 11.2, it was possible to enable support of ARC , ARJ archives using external programs.
From version 14.5, the menu of the graphical shell of the program has been changed to a ribbon interface [7] .

In version 16.0, Facebook integration is integrated, including the “ZipShare” option, which allows you to upload archives to a social network. Added “ZipSend” function for sending archives by e-mail . Implemented full support for 64-bit processors, as well as archiving to Blu-ray discs [4] .
2012 - WinZip Ver. 16.5, whose engine is optimized for multi-core processors . Also added OpenCL support for AMD GPUs (however, not for Intel and Nvidia), while the performance increase in this application for APU Trinity and Llano was up to 45%. [9]
In version 17.0, released in October 2012, support was added for working with cloud storage ( Google Drive , SkyDrive , Dropbox , etc.), as well as integration with Twitter and LinkedIn [3] .
