Lidwin of Schidam ( Dutch: Liduina van Schiedam , March 18, 1380 ; Schidam , near Rotterdam - April 14, 1433 , ibid.) - Dutch saint. Revered in the Roman Catholic Church as the patroness of the sick and those who are struck by a serious illness, sacrifices their suffering for others.

Biography
At the age of fifteen, skating, fell and broke a rib. She became crippled, spent thirty-five years without movement (today her illness is described as multiple sclerosis). It did without sleep and food, almost without drinking. She performed miracles. She left no essays.
Recognition
The tomb of Lidvina turned into a place of worship, in 1434 a church was erected above it. The biography of Lidvina was written by Thomas the Kempian. It was canonized in 1890 , a day of remembrance - April 14. The book about the saint was written by Huysmans ( 1901 ).
Considered the patroness of skaters and skaters .
