Music and song structure
The track is a rapcore , with Fred Durst invited as the second vocalist, leader of the Limp Bizkit rock band. The song is built in the form of a verbal duel between the leaders of the two groups, with hip-hop elements , distorted seven-string guitars and Fieldy's signature bass sound.
Jonathan Davis comments on the meaning of the song.
Fred was here after Korn TV and we said, “Let's make a song together. Hey man, let's go back and fight each other, just like in old school fights. "I don’t know whose idea it was, I can’t remember whether it was my idea, or Fieldy, or Fred, but the idea was and we started compose and work together. I brought a bunch of my poems for a duel. The fun was wonderful. - Jonathan Davis
Original textFred was there after Korn TV and we said, 'Let's do a song together, Hey, man, let's go back and forth and rip on each other like an old school battle.' I don't know whose idea it was, I can't remember if it was mine or Fieldy's or Fred's but we came up with the idea and we started writing and we worked on it together. I came up with some bags on myself for Fred to say. It was all in good natured fun. "
Press Reviews
Excerpt from review of a single in Rolling Stone magazine:
It is also bad that Korn can easily come from persuasiveness to meaninglessness. The next track, “All in the Family”, is a verbal duel between Davis and Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, a rhythmic hip-hop track with a stream of good-natured insults - except for “fagot” and “homosexual” and multi-stage tirades in the spirit of “Suck” , baby, as your dad did, "and" You're a fagot and below the baseboard. " For Davis and Durst, it could just be a harmless school skirmish. But Davis knows that words can hurt - that was the main idea in " Faget ", and homosexual attacks in "All in the Family" reduce at least the five minutes that the song lasts, the strength and bluntness of the album against cruelty and bias. Original textIt's too bad that Korn can go so easily from the potent to the pointless. The very next track, "All in the Family," is an MC duel between Davis and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, a stomping hip-hop track with a good-natured barrage of insults - except for the "faggot" and "fairy" cracks and lame-o lines like "Suck my dick, kid, like your daddy did" and "You're a fag and on a lower level." To Davis and Durst, that may just be harmless schoolyard jivin '. But Davis knows words can hurt - that was the whole point of "Faget," on Korn - and the homosexual slams in "All in the Family" cheapen, at least for those five minutes, the power and integrity of an album otherwise devoted to kickin 'it against cruelty and prejudice
Remixes
Two remixes were made for the song, “Clark World Mix” (mixed by Clark Kent), and “Sowing the Beats Mix” (mixed by Level X). Some editions of the Follow the Leader album came out with an additional CD containing these two tracks [2] .
