History
Founded in 1949 in Chemnitz , PIKO was the main supplier of railway modeling goods in the 1960s and 1980s due to the state monopoly in the German Democratic Republic and economic relations with the CMEA countries , including the USSR . In 1992, the company was privatized and renamed PIKO Spielwaren GmbH.
PIKO produces models in sizes H0 , TT and G ; In the 1960s and 1980s, the company also produced models in size N. After the reunification of Germany, PIKO successfully competes with such large companies as Märklin , Roco and Fleischmann . PIKO is located in Sonneberg .
