Geography
It is located on the left bank in the lower reaches of the Surgut River, 4-5 km south of Sergievsk and 100 km northeast of Samara . At the south-eastern outskirts of the village flows the river Chesnokovka (Dry Chesnokovka).
The village of Surgut adjoins Sukhodol from the north, and the villages of Sernovodsk (in the east) and Svetlodolsk (in the west) are also nearby - together with the district center they form a cluster of settlements with a total population of about 31.4 thousand people.
Transport
In the south, near the village, the M5 Ural highway passes, from it the road to Kinel-Cherkasy leaves to the south. At the western outskirts of the village there is a highway from M5 to Sergievsk (further to Cats , Chelno-Peaks ). There is a road from the village to Sernovodsk along the bridge over the Surgut River.
In the village there is a station of the Samara branch of the Kuybyshev railway Sernye Vody 1 (ESR code 658806 [4] ) on the railway Krotovka - Surgut branch.
History
For the first time, the settlement was mentioned in 1849 as the village of the Epiphany. At that time, there were 68 yards in the village, with 486 inhabitants living in them. The nearest church was two miles away, in the village of Sergievsky mineral waters. The Epiphany was in the 2nd camp of the county on the right side of the road from Sergiev Mineralnye Vody to Samara.
In 1859, the population of the village increased to 620 people. At the end of the 19th century, the Epiphany became a village, the number of inhabitants reached 1,149 people.
In 1910, a wooden church with a bell tower was built in the village; a literacy school was opened at the church.
Before the 1917 revolution, the population increased to 1,400. In the late 20s, the bells of the church were dropped, the parish is closed. The wooden frame of the church, built without nails, was so strong that it stood until 2000 (after its dismantling, the logs were used to build the bell tower at the new church in the name of Archangel Michael).
After the establishment of Soviet power, the village was renamed Sukhodol. In 1928, the Sukhodolsky village council was formed. Since the late 1920s, the village began to grow slowly. In 1931, there were 248 courtyards in the village, in which 1268 people lived, mostly Russians. The population was mainly engaged in agriculture, sowing rye, wheat, oats, as well as millet, peas, barley and other crops. In 1933-1934 a radio appeared in Sukhodol.
The development of oil and gas fields led to an accelerated growth of the village in the postwar period; technical support bases and engineering services for field development appeared. In the south-west of the village, a nodal compressor gas station was built.
The status of an urban-type settlement was obtained in 1970 .
