Biography

Udo Dirkschneider was born on April 6, 1952 in Wuppertal in western Germany . His family owned a factory for the production of various parts and tools. By the time Udo entered school, the family moved to Solingen . Udo's love of music began with a parent's present: The Beatles ' I'm Down, and a portable tape recorder that was donated in 1964. Somewhere at the same time, he heard the Rolling Stones and began to prefer them to The Beatles.

Udo: “I didn’t think of becoming a musician, at least when I was little. It came later, much later. And if you recall the very first dream, then it was ... a cook. Yes, I wanted to be a cook on a ship. Apparently, the passion for travel was laid from the very beginning! And the passion is delicious cooking. However, it did not work out. I had to do other things - and then, seeing that the musical activity was not only interesting, but also successful, that I was becoming more and more famous, I decided to focus on music. ”

Udo, like many teenagers, decided to try himself in music, and preferring keyboards . In 1966, he got a modest model of an instrument, and he, using tutorials, learned to play. He rehearsed with Michael Wagener , a classmate, future Accept guitarist and future famous producer and sound engineer .

For a small group, one way or another, a singer was needed, but he was not. I had to sing Udo, and the result was quite impressive. Moreover, Udo liked to sing.

In the end, the guys created the Band X band, the forerunner of Accept .

Udo's parents objected to his studies in music, considering him the successor of the family business. I must say that by the age of 17, Udo was already considered a skilled worker and quit his parent company only after the release of his third studio album “ Accept ”, “ Breaker ”.

In 1971, the Accept group was created.

For participation in the Accept group, see the main article.

At 19, Udo went to the army, but did not abandon the music. By 1986, Udo gained worldwide fame as part of the Accept group, but was forced to leave the group, as the rest of the group decided to focus on the American market and exploit commercial music, and Udo, in turn, held the belief that Accept should play uncompromising heavy metal . After leaving the group, Udo created his own team, “ UDO ”.

In 1993, Accept reunited, and Dirkschneider recorded three more albums with her, after which Accept split up again, and Udo reassembled UDO , which he still works with.

Udo Dirkschneider has a unique powerful tenor, which is difficult to give any definition.

“Do you want to know what I think about my voice? I hate him haha! Is that a normal, “human” voice? How can they reproduce a melody? Sometimes I just can't listen to him! Well, why can't I sing more melodically, huh? Well, yes, you will begin to assure me that my voice is special, it reminds the voices of Bon Scott from AC / DC , and Rob Halford from Judas Priest ... You will ask me not to change the manner of singing, and ... I will not change it! I myself know that my voice is special, haha! I smoke two packs of cigarettes a day and nothing - I still sing, as you see! ”

Udo Dirkschneider has been married since 1987, his wife's name is Erica, she is a jeweler . From marriage there is a son and a daughter. The future wife when meeting did not have a clue about the worldwide popularity of Udo.

I met my future wife in a bar. She had no idea who I was or what I was doing. Only a few months later she found out that I was very famous. I myself did not tell her about this. Yes, she knew that I was a musician, but did not know that I was famous to some extent. [2]

At leisure, Udo Dirkschneider enjoys playing tennis and swimming, as well as reading memoirs of politicians. He loves red wine , his favorite film is “ Silence of the Lambs .” Udo's height is 165 centimeters. Journalists for a long time tried to reward him with a nickname, such as such as “Dwarf”, “Small Tractor”, “German Tank”, etc., and his voice - “Cries of a crying ghost”, “Smoker's Cough”, but no nickname stuck.

Udo has a positive attitude towards Russia , both in terms of musical predilections (his favorite composer Tchaikovsky ) and personal affections related to Russian culture, lifestyle, Russian mentality . He repeatedly performed in various Russian cities, in the song “Train ride in Russia” he recorded the chorus in Russian and sang the song “Calm” with the group “Aria ” , and also recorded the song “Crying Soldier” in Russian. He also has an apartment in the city of St. Petersburg, where, according to him, he periodically lives with his girlfriend [3] A good tradition for Udo began to celebrate significant holidays in St. Petersburg. He celebrated his birthday more than once in a city cafe, and also met New Year with Russian fans.
