At different times, the newspaper was headed by: Rudolf Teplitsky, Vladimir Romanov, Boris Sinyavsky , Pyotr Bugaev, Evgeny Krasnoselsky, Evgeny Bogdanov , Natalya Kim , Alexander Trutnev.

The newspaper worked with journalists who later became famous writers - Viktor Kozko , winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize , Vladimir Kuropatov, Vladimir Mazaev, Gennady Yurov. Many journalists of Komsomolets Kuzbass - Kuznetsk Territory later became their own correspondents, correspondents, and observers of the country's leading media outlets . These are Yuri Solomonov, Vladislav Rovitsky, Boris Sinyavsky, Dmitry Sagara, Vasily Popok and others.

During the years of perestroika, the publication supported the changes taking place in the country and moved away from the “Komsomol" theme. This period can be described as the heyday of journalism. “Kuznetsk Territory” becomes the leading regional print publication of Kuzbass, representing a dialogue platform for the main political forces of the region. It was then that the newspaper had the maximum circulation. There worked journalists who really claimed the role of leaders of public opinion: Evgeny Bogdanov, Vasily Popok, Dmitry Sagara, Andrey Orekhovsky, Natalya Kim, Galina Babanakova, Valentina Akimova, Mikhail Grevnev, Tatyana Cherkasova, Andrey Korolev, Sergey Bondarenko.

In 1994, the newspaper was corporatized.

Until May 2004, the newspaper was published in A2 format, three times a week. The maximum circulation is 140,000 copies.

Under the editor Yevgeny Bogdanov, the newspaper was renamed and was called the Kuznetsk Territory. The newspaper was in opposition to local authorities. Governor Aman Tuleyev , who managed to “tame” the entire local press, could not tolerate criticism of the Kuznetsk Territory for a long time. Soon, the editor Bogdanov was removed from his post. In 2002, a controlling stake as a result of intensive buying up of securities was transferred from the editorial staff to the Provincial Publishing House ( Novokuznetsk city), owned by the Evrazholding Group. With the support of the latter, Natalia Kim became the chief editor. In 2004, the Kuznetsky Krai newspaper again changed its leadership, the circulation was reduced to a critical minimum. During the editing period of Alexander Trutnev, “Kuznetsky Krai” turned from a daily newspaper of the A2 format into a weekly A3 format, the circulation decreased tenfold - from 60,000 to 6,000 copies.

In November 2008, the Kuznetsk Territory was closed. After his removal, Bogdanov, together with his like-minded people, issued a newspaper issue in 2002 under the old name “Komsomolets of Kuzbass”. However, the rights to this name were instantly registered by the Provincial Publishing House. Then Bogdanov opened the newspaper "Edge" with a group of journalists who, together with him, quit the "Kuznetsk Territory" (CC). The newspaper "Edge" lasted until 2006 and remained the only opposition publication in the media space of the Kemerovo region. Evgeny Bogdanov died in June 2006 from cancer.

The administration of the Kemerovo region expressed sincere condolences in connection with the untimely death of the editor of the newspapers Komsomolets Kuzbassa, Kuznetskiy Kray, Krai - Bogdanova E. A.
