Etymology and use as a name
Eva - female name, the Russian version of the Hebrew name חוה Khava. Literally translated from Hebrew, this word means “life-giving”, but in this context it is used in the sense of “mobile”, “mischievous”. In some languages of Christian peoples this name was included in the form of Eva (Czech, Polish), Iva (English), and in others (Georgian) in the form of Khava.
Also, Eva is a short form not only of some female names [2] (for example, Evangelina, Eugene, Evdokia, Evnik), but also male names - Evstigney, Eutropius [3] .
