Mohammad Ali Jafari ( Persian محمدعلی جعفری ; September 1, 1957 ; Yazd , Iran ), also known as Ali Jafari and Aziz Jafari - Iranian military and statesman, major general , since September 1, 2007, the commander (leader) of the Corps guards of the Islamic revolution . He was replaced at this post by Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi by order of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei .

Biography
Mohammad Ali Jafari was born on September 1, 1957 in the city of Yazd . Received primary and secondary education in his hometown. In 1977 he entered the University of Tehran in the capital of Iran. He studied construction at Tehran University.
He previously commanded the Land Forces of the IRGC from 1992 to August 2005.
In 1999 , after the suppression of student unrest in Tehran, he was one of the 24 IRGC officers who wrote a letter to President Mohammad Khatami , expressing their concern about the incident and dissatisfaction with the fact that the army was involved in suppressing the speeches. [one]
