Biography
Born in the Prague district of Zizkov, where his father served as a postal official [2] . After graduating from high school, he worked for a short time at the post office. In 1920, he was sent to work in Uzhgorod , which was then part of Czechoslovakia , where he began to play in an amateur theater. After returning to Prague, his friend Joseph Chapek helped him get a seat in the Theater of Burian Power. Since 1926 he began acting in films. The list of roles played by Marwan in pre-war cinema, where he played mostly episodic roles, is one hundred and fifty characters [2] .
Since 1954 he played at the National Theater. He has played in more than 200 films (for example, The Ghost of Morrisville Castle , Nobody Knows Anything , Night on Karlstejn , Sinful People of the City of Prague). Over a long career, he is called an actor of three generations [2] .
