Feature

Formed in 1937 as a result of the construction of the Pirogov hydroelectric complex on the Klyazma river. It is one of the largest reservoirs in the region.

Connected with Pyalovsky and Khimkinsky , includes the Pirogov reservoir .

Useful volume - 27 million m³, area - 16.2 km².

The width is up to 1.2 km, the length is 16 km, the depth is up to 16 m (the average is 5.5 m). Seasonal flow regulation, level fluctuations up to 2 meters.

It freezes in mid-November, opens in mid-April.

Reservoir value

It is used for water supply in Moscow and the Moscow region, the irrigation of the Moscow River , navigation, regulation of the level and pollution of water in Klyazma. Popular vacation spot.

In addition, the reservoir, along with other reservoirs, is used as an energy reserve for the Skhodnenskaya and other small hydropower plants .

Access to a water body

To the banks of the reservoir you can drive along the Dmitrovsky and Ostashkovskoe highways by car. The entrances and passages to the southern coast (closest to Moscow ), with the exception of a few organized recreation areas, are in most places blocked off by private yacht clubs, boarding houses, and cottage communities. More accessible for fishing and unorganized tourism and recreation is the northern coast [5] .
