Biography
The eldest son of Ferdinand-Philippe of Orleans and Helena Mecklenburg-Schwerin , grandson of Louis-Philippe I. Had the only brother of Robert, the Duke of Chartres .
Since 1842 , after the death of his father, the four-year earl was heir to the French throne. After the revolution of 1848 and the overthrow of his grandfather, Louis-Philippe with his mother and brother left France , and stayed in Germany. Whereas his grandfather and grandmother moved to England. However, two years later, due to financial difficulties, Elena began to make regular visits to her husband's parents.
In August 1850, former King Louis-Philippe I. died. In the eyes of the Orleanists, the Earl of Paris officially became his successor. But the situation in France did not give hope for the restoration of the monarchy. In 1857, the Duchess of Orleans and her sons finally left Germany and moved to England to the widow of Maria Amalia .
A year later, Louis Philippe's mother died of the flu. At the age of twenty-one, the prince is orphaned and lives with his grandmother until her death in 1866 .
Louis-Philippe was an outstanding personality and an adherent of the ideals of democracy and freedom. In 1861, together with his brother, he volunteered to join the American army and participated in many operations against the southern states. Louis-Philippe has compiled a detailed description of the military actions of the army of northerners; his works remain important to the history of the American Civil War . He was repeatedly wanted to be elected to the French throne, but he answered these proposals with a decisive refusal.
From 1883, after the death of the grandson of Charles X and the last representative of the older Bourbons, Count de Chambord , Louis-Philippe became the Orleanist head of the Capetian house (as Philip VII), while part of the legitimists began to be considered the challenger of the Spanish Prince Juan Montizón (John III).
Louis-Philippe died on September 8, 1894, at the age of fifty-six, at his English residence, Stone House.

Due to the low status of his family due to the fall of the monarchy, Louis-Philippe could not count on a favorable marriage with a foreign princess.
