Aventinus ( lat. Aventinus ) - one of the seven hills on which Rome is located, was located on the left bank of the Tiber River to the south-west of the Palatine .

In the period of the early Republic, Aventine was poorly populated, was outside the boundaries of the sacred border that separated the territory of the city from the outside world.
According to the legend, the plebs were removed to the Aventine and the Sacred Mountain during their struggle with the patricians . Since the 50s. V century BC er Aventine lands were divided among the plebeians .
