Biography

Konstantin Nikolaevich was born in the village of Yartsevo on June 16, 1911. After graduating from a seven-year school, he worked at the Yartsevsky textile factory.

In 1932 he graduated from the Leningrad Military Theoretical Aviation School, in 1933 - the 7th Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots . He served in the Transbaikal Military District . In 1938, he was assigned to the 11th Fighter Aviation Regiment , which was being formed near Moscow. He flew on an I-16 fighter, in 1940 mastered the Yak-1 . Appointed as squadron commander. Together with his teammates, he defended the sky of Moscow from invaders.

Feat

On the night of July 22, 1941, Captain Titenkov led the link towards German planes flying to Moscow. In the Dorokhov area, pilots met the He-111 bomber and shot him down with joint attacks. The plane turned out to be flagship. The colonel and lieutenant colonel of the German army flying in him were killed, and the remaining two crew members surrendered. The entire group of enemy bombers, left without a lead, turned back.

Two days later, on July 24, in the Dorokhov area, Titenkov met an enemy reconnaissance aircraft, the Yu-88 . Noticing the fighter, the scout tried to leave. Titenkov chased him and shot down in the Vyazma area with successive attacks. On August 10, he patrolled at night over the city of Naro-Fominsk . The bomber "Yu-88" intended to bomb the area of ​​concentration of Soviet troops. Konstantin Nikolayevich hit him in the tail and shot down in the first line.

Titenkov also had meetings with enemy fighters. One and the Messerschmitts he shot down in the Yukhnov area on October 7, 1941.

In total, Captain Titenkov made 172 sorties, personally destroyed four enemy aircraft and two in the group as followers. October 10, 1941 during a combat mission Titenkova plane was shot down. When landing in difficult weather conditions and with a lack of fuel, it crashed near the Kubinka airfield [2] [3] .

For heroism and courage in the fight against the invaders, the education of young pilots by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 28, 1941, Titenkov Konstantin Nikolayevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

In 1966, at the crash site, the Order of Lenin was found, which belonged to Titenkov [3] .
