Alba Longa ( lat. Alba Longa ) is an ancient Latin city in Lazio southeast of Rome .

History
According to legend, Alba Longa was founded around 1152 BC. er , 30 years after Lavinium , Ascanius , son of Aeneas , who later took the name Yul and became the ancestor of the clan Julius . Around the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. er was the center of the Latin Union .
In the VII century. BC er (under King Tullus Gostilia ) was destroyed by the Romans , but the sanctuary of Jupiter Laziaris, located in Alba Long, remained the sacred center of the union . Albanians were resettled in Rome, members of noble families ( Julia , Servilia , Quinction , Gegania , Curia , Clelia ) were recorded in the Roman patricians .
Alba Longa is the legendary homeland of Romulus and Remus .
