Museum Building
The Museum of Ethnography occupies the building of the Galician Credit Office. This is the second most important (after the main building of the Lviv Polytechnic ) work by Julian Zakharevich ( 1837 - 1898 ). The building stands out for its romantic interpretation of neo-Renaissance motifs. The architect and builders actively used the texture features and color of the materials: polychrome Nadraine brick, hewn Ternopol stone, majolica reliefs and metal forged lattices. The lobby, lined with polychrome tiles, decorated with colored stone panels and stained-glass windows of the Tyroler Glassmalerai company from Innsbruck, was vividly and expressively resolved. The interiors and facade of the building were decorated with numerous works from the sculptural workshop of L. Marconi. The building is completed by a dome with a spire; an allegorical sculptural group is placed near the base of the dome, which symbolizes the economic prosperity of Galicia (sculptor Yu. Markovsky ).
