From 1959 to 1961, the production of Ka-18 helicopters was carried out at Ulan-Ude aircraft plant No. 99. About 120 cars were built. The Ka-18s have been in operation for approximately 15 years since they were discontinued. With the beginning of the 1970s, the Ka-18 began to be actively replaced with a newer model of the light economic helicopter Ka-26 . The last cars remained in operation until the mid-1970s. [2]

Test pilot Dmitry Konstantinovich Efremov, according to the plan of the director Grigory Alexandrov , landed a helicopter on the deck of a river boat, and then gallantly helped actress Lyubov Orlova get out of the cockpit.
  • Ka-18 is present in the feature film " Barrier of Unknown " (1961). At the beginning of the film, the main characters fly on it.
