Dancing couples line up in a circle and on the command of one of the participants called a “singer” ( Spanish cantante, cantor ), as a rule, men (padre), less often women (madre), harmoniously perform certain figures, replacing partners in a circle. The rued uses movements of both ordinary and paired salsa, as well as specific movements that are characteristic only for it.
It is widely believed that people dancing rueda should perform movements in full synchronism. This is not entirely true: when an rude is executed with an even number of pairs, the so-called “asynchronous” rued is possible. In this case, pairs with odd numbers begin to move as in a regular rudder, and pairs with even numbers begin to lag by a beat. The result is, as it were, two rudas dancing belatedly relative to each other, under the command of one cantor. The change of partners occurs within each of them to their own beat.
