Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the I convocation (1994-1995). Member of the Presidium of the Russian Jewish Congress .

Biography

Born in Moscow on January 3, 1932 . Mother is a teacher. Father is an engineer, repressed in 1949 , rehabilitated in 1956 .

Graduated from Moscow Law Institute (1955). She worked as a legal adviser, lawyer. She wrote judicial essays.

Since 1963, regularly published in a variety of publications - published more than 1000 articles. The first newspaper is Moskovsky Komsomolets . She was a traveling correspondent for Yunost magazine, Izvestia , Literaturnaya Gazeta , and Komsomolskaya Pravda newspapers. The author of 9 books. Member of the joint venture of the USSR , SJ USSR , SK USSR .

In 1970 - 1973 she worked as an editor at the Gorky film studio . In 1973 - 1978 she worked as a columnist for the magazine " Soviet Screen ".

In 1989 - one of the organizers of the independent movement of writers "April".

  • 1990 - conducted the first anti-fascist process, which ended with the conviction of one of the leaders of the organization “Memory” K. V. Smirnov-Ostashvili [1] under Art. 74 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR "For inciting national hatred" [2] .
  • 1991 - Member of the Coordinating Council of the Democratic Russia Movement, organized the Moscow Anti-Fascist Center.

In 1993, she was elected to the State Duma of the FS “Choice of Russia” from the Northern District of Moscow. In the Duma, it drafted laws "On the restriction of privileges of deputies and government officials", "On state and non-state secondary education", "On the prohibition of extremist organizations, the propaganda of national hatred and Nazi symbols." She also participated in the development of laws on libraries, on the preservation of museums, on out-of-school institutions, on cinema, and a supporter of the early introduction of juvenile justice in Russia. Organized parliamentary hearings "On the danger of fascism in a country that defeated fascism." Took part in solving the problems of more than a thousand voters of the district.

Since 1995 - Researcher at the Institute for the Economy in Transition , President of the Holocaust Public Foundation. Conducted dozens of seminars for teachers in different regions of Russia. Member of the editorial board of the "Holocaust Library" , one of the compilers of many books, including the "Books of the Righteous" and "History of the Holocaust in the USSR."

In 2003, she was awarded the Prize of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia “Person of the Year 5762 ” in the category “Educational Activities”. [3]

Since 2007 - Member of the Public Chamber of Russia [4] , head of the working group on migrant issues in Russia.

In March 2014, she signed a letter “We are with you!” By the Cinema Union in support of Ukraine [5] .
