Abbas, Khoja Ahmad

Khoja Ahmad Abbas [1] ( English Khwaja Ahmad Abbas , commonly known as KA Abbas ; June 7, 1914 , Panipat - June 1, 1987 , Bombay ) is an Indian writer, producer, screenwriter, film director and journalist. Creator of such famous Indian films as “Seven Indians” and “A Thousand Nights on a Bed of Stone”. It is considered one of the pioneers of Indian parallel or neo-realistic cinema [2] .

He wrote in Urdu and English. Participated in the Indian national liberation movement. He was a member of the World Peace Council .

In 1969 he was awarded the Padma Sri Prize.

As a writer, he became famous for the dilogy of the novels Revolution (1954) and Peace is My Village (1973).

The films “ Ability ” (1951), “ Mr. 420 ” (1956) were shot based on Abbas’s screenplays. Together with the Soviet director V. M. Pronin, he directed the film “ Walking Over Three Seas ” (1958).
