Length 152 km, basin area 3375 km². The largest river in Sardinia. The source is on the Budduso Plateau, on the slopes of Punta Pianedda . It flows in a southwestern direction, crossing the island, and flows into the Gulf of Oristano , near the city of Oristano , located on the river.
In 1924, a dam was erected on the river, as a result of which the artificial lake Omodeo was formed . Later another dam was built, which increased the area of the lake.
