History
Order of the Italian Kingdom
Established by Decree of the King of Italy, Victor Emanuel III No. 172 of March 14, 1942 as a reward for foreigners for military and civil services to the Italian Kingdom. Established by analogy with the Order of the German Eagle ( Third Reich ). The military type of reward differed from the civil one by the presence of two crossed swords between the rays of the cross. The image of the ancient Roman sword - gladius was used . The order was worn on a ribbon, initially on a red one with two Italian Flags at the edges, and from August 24, 1942, according to a royal decree, it was replaced with a maroon ribbon with yellow stripes (4 mm ) at the edges.
The king of Italy was considered the head of the order.
