Reaction

Film critics of those years noted that the intrigue of the film is too "liquid" to attract the attention of viewers for more than two hours. At the same time, battle scenes - primarily air battles - are considered one of the best in Hollywood history. [five]

Restoration

For release on Blu-ray in 2012, the film was remastered . The tape was restored, the original black and white image was converted to sepia with the addition of color in the scenes of air battles. As the soundtrack, John Stefan Zameknik's original score was used , recorded specially for the release and supplemented by Ben Burtt's sound effects ( Star Wars , Indiana Jones ).
