Content
History
Like most districts of the Moldavian SSR , it was formed on November 11, 1940 with a center in the village of Nadushita . Until October 16, 1949, it was part of the Soroksky district ; after the abolition of the county division, it became directly subordinate to the republic.
From January 31, 1952 to June 15, 1953, the district was part of the Balti District , after the abolition of the district division, it again became directly subordinate to the republic.
On September 3, 1954, the administrative center was moved to the town of Drochia .
On January 9, 1956, a large part of the territory of the abolished Zguritsky district was transferred to the Drokievsky District , and in July 1959 - also part of the abolished Tarnovsky District .
On December 25, 1962, the Drokievsky district was abolished and included in the Ryshkansky district , but four years later ( December 27, 1966 ) it was restored, while a small territory of the abolished Balti district was transferred to the district .
From 1999 to 2002 , as part of the ongoing administrative reform, the district was part of the Soroksky district . After the abolition of the county division, the district again became an independent administrative unit.

- Glukhovsky, Nicholas (1905-1985) - Moldavian Soviet scientist, veterinarian physician, teacher.
- Testemitanu, Nikolai Andreevich (1927-1986) - Moldovan surgeon, Minister of Health of the Moldavian SSR (1963-1968).
Attractions
- 3 km south-west of the city of Drochia is the Yasnaya Polyana park with an area of 12.8 hectares.
