Timoleont ( dr. Greek Τιμολέων ) is an ancient Greek commander and statesman.

Biography
Timoleont was born around 411 BC. e. in Corinth ; due to irreconcilable hatred of tyranny, he participated in the murder of his brother Timofan , who in 366 BC. e. sought to seize power; after that he lived for 20 years in solitude.
In 347 BC e. was sent to Sicily with a small army as a result of a request for help from the Syracusans, first captured the city of Syracuse , and in 343 BC. e. and the fortress that he destroyed. Having sent the tyrant Dionysius the Younger to live his life in Corinth, he restored the democratic regime and ruled the city fairly and disinterestedly. In 340 BC e. forced the Carthaginians to clear Sicily (after the battle of Krimisse ), restored the republican system in all other Greek cities of Sicily and united them into one alliance with Syracuse. He died in 337 BC. e.
