Romano Guardini ( Guardini, Italian. Romano Guardini ; February 17, 1885 , Verona - October 1, 1968 , Munich ) - German philosopher and Catholic theologian of Italian origin.

Biography
In 1886 the family moved to Mainz . He studied chemistry, then economics, chose theology. He studied theology in Freiburg . He became a priest in 1910 , defended his master's thesis in theology of Bonaventure ( 1915 ). The leader of the Catholic youth movement, an influential public and religious figure of the era. Private Associate Professor in Bonn ( 1921 ), an ordinary professor of philosophy of religion in Berlin ( 1923 ). He was removed from the Nazis from teaching, deprived of a professorship ( 1939 ). He returned to university in 1945 , taught in Tübingen ( 1946 ) and in Munich ( 1949 ), and retired in 1962 . Until the end of his days, he took an active part in the life of the church.
Creativity
He was influenced by phenomenological philosophy, hermeneutics ( Dilthey , Simmel , Husserl , Scheler ). The author of works on philosophical anthropology and philosophy of culture, relying on the artistic work of Dante , Hölderlin , Dostoevsky , Rilke . His writings influenced many religious leaders, including a group of Slovenian Christian socialists.

His books “On the Spirit of the Liturgy”, “Lord”, “The End of the New Time” were repeatedly reprinted in different languages. They were highly appreciated by Hannah Arendt , Flannery O'Connor . Guardini was awarded the Peace Prize of German booksellers ( 1952 ), the Erasmus Prize ( 1962 ).
