Model career

Tsuchiya became a model at the age of fourteen, on the advice of her older sister. Her first magazines were Kobe and the teen magazine Seventeen . She was in demand in the modeling business, and by 2002 had already starred in television commercials for Uniqlo and Edwin [3] .

While working as a model, Tsuchiya painfully tried to lose weight. When she was fifteen, she once woke up in the morning with paralysis of her legs, as a result of exhaustion [4] (With a height of 167 cm and a weight of 44 kg, she was considered too thick and low by model standards). This often became the reason for ridicule from other models of her age. However, during her time at Seventeen , Tsuchiya made friends with several of them, in particular Yoshika Yunagi . Around the same time, she started smoking and drinking [5] .

Tsuchiya also admitted that she herself often scoffed at the “thicker” models, especially foreigners who came to work in such magazines as Elle , Vogue , SPUR and Pre Numéro [4] , especially when she was drunk. These models, who did not know the Japanese language, did not understand what she was saying to them, and simply smiled back [6] .

Tsuchiya ended her modeling career at the age of 18. She commented this: “I just realized that I could never fully compete with supernatural people like Amy Suzuki ” [7] . Tsuchiya is one of the most successful Japanese models of mixed origin in 2000, along with Jessica Mitibata [8] .

Although Anna was born and raised in Tokyo , she often uses Kyushu and Okinawa slang in her speech and speaks South Japanese dialects . According to her, most of the models from Seventeen with whom she spoke were from the southern islands or from Tohoku . From them she learned slang. Subsequently, it turned out to be useful in playing the role of Ichigo, a young biker girl from Kamikaze Girls [8] .

Musical career

Anna's musical career began in 2002, when the Japanese guitarist KAZ decided to create the Spin Aqua band, taking her as a vocalist [9] . But after releasing 3 singles, 3 videos, one full-fledged studio album, giving several live performances, the group broke up.

Her song “Guilty” is the soundtrack in the movie “ Resident Evil: Degeneration ”.

In 2011, she recorded the song “Switch On!” For the series “ Kamen Rider Fourze, ” the twenty-second season of the series “ Kamen Rider .” She did this because she herself was a fan of this series as a child, and her son became a fan of the previous season “ Kamen Rider OOO ”.

Actress career

Tsuchiya first appeared in films in 2004 in the movie Kamikaze Girls ( Japanese я 妻 物語 Shimotsuma Monogatari ) , based on the novel by Nobara Takemoto , in the role of biker Ichigo Shirayuri. This role brought her instant fame and attention from the press. Her success continued in various roles in Japanese films, such as The Taste of Tea , Dororo , Sakuran and the voice acting of the character Lindsay Lohan , "Maggie Peyton", in the Japanese dubbing Crazy Racing . [7] She last starred in the film adaptation of The Legend of Kamui .

Personal life

In 2004, Tsuchiya married actor and model Joshua Niimura [10] [11] , the younger brother of model Fridia Niimura (Rina Kozue). On November 19, 2004, Anna gave birth to a boy whom she named Sky ( Japanese я Sukai ) . Sky was shot in a photo shoot with his mother, entitled "Happy Days - Anna, Mama ni Naru!" [12] In July 2006, Tsuchiya and Niimura filed for divorce. [13] In May 2008, Niimura died of heart failure at the age of 25. [fourteen]

In September 2009, a message appeared on her blog that she was pregnant again and was marrying her stylist Yamato Kikuchi. Yamato worked as her stylist for many years, and presumably their romance began in 2007. [15] On March 26, 2010, Tsuchiya gave birth to her second son, Simba ( Jap. 心 羽 ) . [16] In early 2016, the couple announced their divorce.

March 6, 2017 gave birth to a third child - a daughter [17] .
