Story

Mystical and romantic legend of the Italian Dolomites.

In the full moon on the top of the mountain, next to a quiet village, a blue light glistens, playing a fateful role in the fate of local youths: they strive for a wonderful radiance, but they break, not reaching the top. Near the village lives the holy fool Yunta.

Once in a village, a German artist falls in love with her and learns a secret: Yunte knows the path to the top, to a sparkling grotto from rock crystal. Having visited there himself, the artist informs the peasants about the find, and they ruin the grotto. The people rejoice, and Yunt, deprived of her light, breaks off the cliff.

Leni Riefenstahl about the film

“In the Blue Light, I, as if anticipating, told my later fate: Yunta, a strange girl living in the mountains in a dream world, persecuted and rejected, dies because her ideals are crumbling - in the film they are symbolized by sparkling crystals of rock crystal. Until the beginning of the summer of 1932, I also lived in a dream world ... " [1]
