Biography
- In 1905 he graduated from the University of Vienna , after which he worked at the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics in Vienna .
- Since 1912, a teacher at the Higher School of Soil Science in Vienna.
- Since 1919, a professor at the Higher School of Soil Science.
- Since 1930, professor and director of the Meteorological Observatory of the University of Vienna.
Survey Area
He studied the turbulent mixing of the lower layers of the atmosphere and lake waters, introduced the concept of mixing coefficient.
According to one version, the Schmidt number is named after him. It characterizes the ratio of convective and diffuse transport .
