Story
Pierre Malaque ( Pierre Richard ) is an eccentric and incredibly absent-minded young man with a rich imagination, living in a dream world and constantly falling into various curious situations. On the recommendation of his mother, he was hired by a large advertising agency Jericho. Pierre, full of crazy advertising ideas, intervenes in everything and tries to redo everything in his own way. His commercials resemble horror films ; the theme of violence and death amuses him, black humor is present in all his works. He is convinced that “ shock ” advertising is the most effective and modern. His actions shock and annoy the employees, but, to their amazement, the strict boss, Mr. Guiton ( Bernard Blieu ) dismisses Pierre from his hands all his tricks, as he is in love with his mother.
At the office of the company, Pierre meets and makes friends with a young and charming employee, Lisa Gastier ( Marie-Christine Barro ), who turns out to be the daughter of one of the important clients of the advertising agency. It was entrusted to Pierre to bring to the office of Mr. Gastier a contract for signing. However, Pierre, as usual, confuses everything and instead of the office he comes home to Gastier, where the party is in full swing. With his strange behavior, he immediately attracts the attention of those present. The youngest daughter, Gastier Veronica, decides to teach Pierre a lesson, but as a result she herself finds herself in an awkward position. Mr. Gastier, without waiting for Pierre in the office, arrives home and, finding Pierre there, sets up a scandal and literally throws him out of the house.
Mr. Guiton's young wife, Clarissa, is trying to seduce Pierre in the conservatory, but this also ends with another curiosity - when Pierre tries to undress her, her hair falls into a zipper and he, to the horror of Clarissa, cuts her hair short with secateurs .
Pierre’s employees, who do not like him, give him a room under his office, crammed with cages with parrots and almost without furniture in the hope of annoying him, but Pierre also finds classes for himself here. Soon he had his first client - an eccentric, even more absent-minded than Pierre himself, the manufacturer of the Clerden toothpaste ( Paul Prebua ). During a walk with Lisa, Pierre gives birth to the idea of an advertising campaign for toothpaste - advertising on the street. The scenario is this: a beautiful blonde walks down the street and suddenly faints. A crowd of people surrounds her. Suddenly a handsome young man appears who makes her artificial respiration . The girl immediately comes to her senses and delightfully asks “Clerden?”, To which the young man answers in the affirmative, and then the advertising slogan is pronounced. The campaign ends with a fight among those who want to make the girl artificial respiration and scandal in the press. The next project of Pierre was the advertisement of “Plistax” bags for storing plastic bags (!), Including breaking eggs on their heads in the street, also ending in riots and scandal.
Mr. Guiton still endures Pierre's antics, in moments of anger recalling romantic dates with his mother. However, his patience will soon end. Pierre makes another shocking commercial with vampirism . Lisa, realizing that this can cross all borders, convinces him to refuse to broadcast the video, but the tape with the recording accidentally hits the television and causes a storm of protest. Angry viewers picket near the building of an advertising company. At an emergency meeting with bosses and clients, Guiton decides to fire Pierre Malache, which leads Lisa to despair. She rushes in search of Pierre and comes to his apartment, but does not find him there. Meanwhile, Pierre, attacked by furious demonstrators on the way to the agency, sees a large advertising poster with a picture of a beautiful girl in the bathroom, introduces Lisa in her place and suddenly realizes that she is in love with Lisa. This enthralls him, and he begins to search for Lisa everywhere, while at the same time falling into comical situations. As a result, he finds her taking a bath at home and emotionally declares her love.
Pierre's mother convinces Guiton to give him another chance, and he decides to send him together with Lisa to work in a branch of the agency in the USA . Before taking off, while aboard the plane, Pierre suddenly goes to look for a toilet and as a result leaves the plane, which then flies away without it. The absent-minded Pier rushes to catch up with the plane. Voice-over quotes The Characters by Jean de Labruyere and the film ends.
