Luis Subercasiux ( isp. Luis Subercaseaux ) (1882–1973) is a Chilean diplomat and athlete . He was famous for becoming the first participant from Chile and South America in general at the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens . According to the NOC of Chile, Luis Suberkasiukks, at the age of 15, competed at distances of 100, 400 and 800 m. In the minutes of the games, however, his participation was not fixed.

Suberkasiuks studied at a Benedictine college at Provincias Vascongadas in France , where he set a record for high jump . He was one of the founders of the Santiago Morning football club, president of the riding club in Santiago .
In his diplomatic career, he was ambassador of Chile to Peru , Spain and the Vatican , chargé d'affaires in Belgium , Czechoslovakia , Greece , Holland , Norway , Poland , Yugoslavia until 1928.
