Yuriev, Mikhail Zinovievich

Born April 10, 1959 in Moscow in the family of a journalist and science fiction writer Z. Yuryev (Greenman). It has Jewish roots on the father and Russian - on the mother.

In 1973 he graduated from school at the age of 14. At the age of 19, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University . He worked at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, USSR Academy of Sciences .

Since 1990 , he has been General Director of the Interprom Production Association, President of the Interprom Industrial Group LLP. ^[one]

In 1995 - 1999 he was a deputy of the State Duma of the second convocation , a member of the Yabloko faction ^[2] . At the same time, in his own words, a member of the Yabloko party has never been and has not fully shared its ideology. In 1996, according to the quota of the Yabloko faction, he took the post of Deputy Chairman of the State Duma . He was the initiator and (co) author of 4 legislative initiatives, one of which was adopted - Federal Constitutional Law dated December 17, 2001 No. 6-FKZ “On the Procedure for Admitting to the Russian Federation and Formation of a New Subject of the Russian Federation” ^[3] .

In the article “Fortress Russia”, the former Yabloko Yuriev called for Russia’s closeness to the rest of the world and appealed to the industrial heyday of the Third Reich, which, in his opinion, was the result of closed Nazi Germany. In 2004, Yuriev published the article “Internal Enemy and National Idea” in the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” and became the main ideologist of isolationism ^[4] .

In 2014, he stated that he liquidated his business in Russia and conducts it only in the USA ^[5] .

In the US, according to The Guardian, he was engaged in the production of ethane ; together with A. S. Voloshin in 2018 founded the company American Ethane ^[6] .

Together with Mikhail Leontyev and Anatoly Kuzichev, he conducted the analytical program GlavRadio. In 2016, he was an invited guest in the weekly (Friday) program Yuryev Day at Life Sound radio station (former RSN).

Since April 27, 2017, he has been a participant in the Main Topic analytical program (along with Mikhail Leontyev and Ilya Savelyev) on Komsomolskaya Pravda Radio ^[7] .

During the protests in Armenia in 2018, he declared the need for Russia to use force against the Armenian opposition: “What should we be ashamed of? There was a color revolution , to drop two regiments and drown in blood, since they themselves lack the spirit ” ^[8] .

Over the last year of his life, he struggled with cancer , periodically participating in the program "Main Theme". He died in Moscow on February 15, 2019 ^{[9] [10]} .
