Career
Early career
Frieden was originally a vocalist for Dark Tranquility [3] . He sang on their debut album Skydancer , but soon after left the band. Two years later, he joined In Flames . Coincidentally, Mikael Stanne left In Flames (as a session musician) in the band Dark Tranquillity and completely switched from rhythm guitar to vocals. At that time, Anders was also the lead vocalist in another band known as Ceremonial Oath, along with In Flames founder Jesper Stremblad.
1995-Our Time: In Flames
Frieden first recorded with In Flames on the 1995 album The Jester Race . Nicklas Sundin (from Dark Tranquillity ) helped Anders write lyrics for Whoracle . In 1999, to the Colony album, Frieden wrote the lyrics himself, although Sundin still helped him translate them from Swedish into English.
Anders is also the vocalist of the Passenger band as a side project, but, as he recently stated, he has very little time for the project, so Passenger is idle.
Frieden was invited to record vocals for the album The Phantom Novels of the metal band Grievance . His lead voice is in Atrocity Upon Deceptions , A Devil's Rhyme and The mask of Sin . Despite being recorded at about the same time as In Flames Reroute to Remain , Anders uses his low growl more than the high that he used at that time in In Flames .
After the release of Reroute to Remain in 2002, Frieden's image has changed a lot. The perfectly shaved chin was replaced by a beard, and his long hair was braided in dreadlocks . His manner of performance has also changed, especially in the last three recordings. His low growl growled into a higher scream, which is now complemented by a clear voice and many layers of backing vocals.
In addition to singing, Frieden is engaged in producing, in particular with his help, the albums of The Undying Darkness by Caliban and Absolute Design by Engel in 2007 were recorded and sold.
In the same 2007, Anders Frieden participated in the recording of the Japanese bonus track I See The Falling Sky from Caliban 's The Awakening album. He also recorded the voice for the song Dysfunctional Hours for the compilation album for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast Out of the Dark .
He also contributed to the writing and screaming of Self Versus Self , which is featured on Pendulum ’s third drum and bass album. Along with Anders, his In Flames colleagues, Björn Gelotte and Peter Ivers, also participated .
Later, in the summer of 2010, Frieden again changed his appearance, deciding to cut off his dreadlocks, which he raised from the release of Reroute to Remain .
Personal life
Family
Frieden and his wife Helena Lindsjö have a daughter named Agnes and son Edwin. Anders also has a younger brother, Magnus.
Hobbies and Interests
Anders is known for watching a lot of films on DVD . His favorite quote is “The one who will have the most DVDs at the time of death will win.”
Anders also collects whiskey . In an interview with Metal Hammer , he talks about how many years it took him to taste good whiskey, and that "it's silly to get drunk with good whiskey - there's a lot more to it."
He is a fan of the Swedish football club IFK Göteborg .
