The line is mainly used by suburban electric trains, aeroexpress trains to Sheremetyevo, regional express trains to Dubna, Dmitrov and Lobnya. For them, the main passenger terminal in Moscow is Savelovsky Station . The only long-distance train (to Rybinsk ) leaves from Belorussky railway station . Earlier, there was also a train to St. Petersburg on a long route through the Sonkovo station. Also, Minsk-Arkhangelsk trains of the Belarusian Railway and Vorkuta-Belgorod trains run along the line, but only to Yakhroma, from where they turn onto the Big Ring and go along it to the Yaroslavl direction.

Direction includes:

  • The main passage to the station Savyolovo (city of Kimry ) is 128 km long. The section to Dmitrov station is double-track, then single-track. Savyolovo station is the border between the Moscow Railway and the October Railway (the station itself belongs to the railway). Next, the Savyolovo railway line goes single-track non-electrified.
    • At the same time, the Iksha - Yakhroma / Dmitrov section is combined with the Big Ring of the Moscow Railway
  • Branch to Sheremetyevo Airport . Only Aeroexpress trains work .
  • A branch from Verbilki Station to 51 km Dubna Station. Single track.

From the Trudovaya platform along the line runs the Moscow Canal .

At the end of November 2019, in the Savyolovsky direction from Lobny through the Savyolovsky and Belorussky railway stations to Odintsovo, the clockwork of the Ivolga urban electric trains will begin along the 52-km route of the Moscow Central Diameters project (section in the direction 26 km long) [1] [2] [3 ] ] , it will be serviced by OJSC Central Suburban Passenger Company [4] [5] [6] .

Until 2025, on the site from the Belorussky railway station to Lobnya, the third and fourth main tracks will be built [7] .

History

Water tower at the Dmitrov railway station

The railway line from Moscow to Savelovo began to be built at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of Savva Mamontov , a shareholder and director of the Moscow-Yaroslavl Railway company and a well-known philanthropist. The line was opened in December 1900 on the Beskudnikovo -Savyolovo section and initially connected to the Moscow-Yaroslavl Railway via the Beskudnikovskaya branch . The Moscow-Beskudnikovo section appeared in March 1902 (the delay was due to the choice of the station construction site).

Water towers were built to fill the steam locomotives with water at the Iksha , Dmitrov and Savelovo stations. The towers as monuments have been preserved in Dmitrov and Savelov. In 1918, the Savyolovo- Kalyazin branch was built. In the late 30s, in connection with the construction of the Uglich Reservoir , the railway line from Kalyazin to Uglich was built as soon as possible [8] .

Verbilka Branch - The Big Volga was opened in the early 1930s, disassembled during the war, restored in the 1950s and extended to Dubna in 1969.

During the reorganization in the 1950s, the Moscow – Dmitrov – Verbilki – Kalyazin – Uglich railway line with the Verbilki – Bolshaya Volga branch was included in the Moscow Railway [9] .

The Losinoostrovskaya - Institute of the Way (now non-existent) section was electrified in 1945, Moscow - Iksha - in 1954, Beskudnikovo - the Institute of the Way (now nonexistent) - in 1955, Iksha - Dmitrov - in 1956, Dmitrov - Canalstroy - in 1961, Canalstroy - Verbilki - Dubna - in 1970. Verbilki - Savelovo - in 1978. In all areas, direct current, voltage 3 kV.

By 2018, the Savyolovsky direction is double-track in the area from Moscow to Dmitrov , then the single-track from Dmitrov to Dubna and to Savelov [10] .

Administration

Administratively, the Savyolovsky direction is part of the Moscow-Smolensk region of the Moscow Railway . The Moscow-Savyolovskaya distance control is located at the Moscow-Butyrskaya station at 23 Savyolovskaya line .

In the past, the line was part of the Moscow-Yaroslavl-Arkhangelsk Railway (1900-1906), the Northern Railways (1907-1936), the Yaroslavl Railway (1936-1953), and the Northern Railway (1953-1959). As part of the Moscow Railway since 1959 .

Modern Development

A line has been built from the Sheremetyevo platform to the Sheremetyevo airport . It is designed for aeroexpress trains , although in 2010 two pairs of conventional electric trains were launched along the line every day, subsequently canceled. The regular movement of Aeroexpress trains began in June 2008, and is carried out from the Belorussky Railway Station without intermediate stops.

In 2018, the construction of the new TPU “ Okrugnaya ” was completed, which includes the Okrugnaya platform of the Savyolovsky direction, o.p. District MCC and metro station Okruzhnaya .

On December 20, 2013, at a meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Development of the Transport System of Moscow and the Moscow Region, a decision was made to develop the Savyolovsky direction, to build the third and fourth main routes, a new line of junction with the Sheremetyevo Airport’s Northern Terminal under construction. Due to the slowdown of the project due to the need for large investments, construction work will begin in 2019, and the deadlines for commissioning new main tracks have been shifted to the period 2020–2025 [7] .

In the future, the direction is planned as the main freight route between Moscow and St. Petersburg with construction throughout the second main route and electrification. The planned throughput is 20 pairs of freight trains per day. This is due to the need to finally release the main passage of the October Railway from the remnants of freight traffic [10] [11] .

In 2017, the Savyolovsky direction showed the highest growth rate of passenger traffic in Mosuzl, increasing its volume by 3% compared to 2016. This is due to the construction and settlement of residential complexes near the stopping points Novodachnaya, Dolgoprudnaya, Vodniki, Khlebnikovo, Lobnya, Depot, Turist, Dmitrov [12] .

In September 2017, by an order of the Government of Russia, a contribution of 13.15 billion rubles was sent to the charter capital of Russian Railways. Funds in the amount of 9.41 billion rubles will go, in particular, for the implementation of investment projects for the construction of additional stopping points of the Moscow Railway and the integration of the Savyolovsky direction of the Moscow Railway and the Moscow Central Ring [2] [13] .

WDC-1

On November 15, 2017, it became known about the plans for the construction of Russian Railways together with the Government of Moscow of a new transport system - the WDC ( Moscow Central Diameters ). The first line of this system (WDC-1) will unite the Savyolovskoe and Belorusskoe directions on the section from Lobny through Moscow to Odintsovo into a single branch of the ground “metro”. The length of the line will be 52 km, the travel time is 1 hour 20 minutes, the interval between trains is 15 minutes, the estimated passenger flow is 42 million people per year. The movement of ordinary long-distance electric trains, regional express trains and aeroexpresses will continue, but their travel time will increase compared to the current one due to schedule compaction [14] . In November 2017, it became known that in October-November 2018, 23 Ivolga trains would be delivered to the CPPK for operation on the Lobnya – Odintsovo line of the Moscow Central Diameters project [15] [16] [5] .

The clock movement of branded city trains along WDC-1 will begin at the end of November 2019. At the same time, two more stopping points integrated with the “ subway ”, Petrovsko-Razumovskaya and Dmitrovskaya, and one Ilimskaya between Beskudnikovo station and Lianozovo stopping point will be built on the Savyolovsky direction [10] . In this case, the latter will be shifted to the planned metro station "Lianozovo" .

Passenger platforms

There are high platforms all over the line. Only Savyolovsky station , Timiryazevskaya platform , Beskudnikovo station, Lianozovo platform, Dolgoprudnaya platform, Okruzhnaya platform (new island platform, the second island is planned), Lobnya station (express platform only) and Dmitrov station are equipped with turnstiles ( ASOKUPE ) for the passage of passengers. Labels with station names are painted in orange and dark red (previously - in blue and orange). The direction is being actively modernized. In 1994, reconstruction of track facilities at the Mark and Lobnya stations took place. After the launch of the Savyolovsky Train Station - Sheremetyevo Terminal terminal in 2008 (the route began later from the Belorussky Train Station ), the Sheremetyevskaya platform was reconstructed in both directions.

The 4th platform of the Savelovsky station , the Canalstroy , Depot , Morozki platforms were completely reconstructed, the reconstruction of the Depot platform was completed in 2012, and the Dolgoprudnaya and Degunino platforms in 2013. In 2014 - Beskudnikovo station with the construction of a mini-station and turnstile pavilion, Lugovaya platform (to Moscow ), Iksha station. In 2015 - the Okrugny platform, the Lugovaya platform (in the region), the Yakhroma station. In 2016, the Nekrasovskaya platform. In 2009, construction began and by 2010 the construction of a second passenger platform on the third track of Verbilki Station was completed .

On April 27, 2011, the 5th platform at the Savyolovsky station was commissioned, designed to pass trains from the Belarusian direction. They have orange canopies.

The Dubna and Bolshaya Volga stations in the city of Dubna were reconstructed.

Criticism

A significant drawback of the direction is its location in the cramped conditions of Moscow and the suburbs, the development of a reserve land strip of the railway, the difficulty of expanding the track economy through the construction of additional railways. The opening of Savyolovsky train station-Lobnya high-speed communications in 2005, the launch of Aeroexpress in Sheremetyevo in 2008, not only had advantages, but also revealed serious problems in organizing traffic on the highway, the throughput of which is relatively small. The movement of express trains to Lobnya, Dmitrov and Dubna, aeroexpress trains to Sheremetyevo along the same routes with suburban electric trains led to a disruption in the regularity of the schedule and an increase in the intervals in the movement of trains up to 50 minutes [17] , to the lag of crowded trains waiting for overtaking by express trains at Beskudnikovo and Mark stations, to an excessive congestion of waiting for departure on platforms during rush hours, it caused discontent of passengers and criticism in the press [18] [19] . Express train overtaking was discontinued in October 2015, when an optimized schedule was put in place.
