Newspaper History

It was founded as " Izvestia of the Yuzov Council of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies " in July 1917 in the city of Yuzovka (modern name - Donetsk ), and was published three times a week. The latest issue of Izvestia was released on January 1, 1918, there were 65 in all.

Until October, the Mensheviks dominated the Yuzov Council. By the beginning of 1918, the Bolshevik organization of Yuzovka was able to take over the publication of the newspaper. Since March 8, 1918, the Bolsheviks began to publish the newspaper Donetsk Pravda , and in April of that year the publication ceased, since the German troops occupied Donbass .

In the evacuation in Pavlograd, the Bolsheviks continued to issue the newspaper, renaming it “ Donetsk Communist ”. From January 14, 1920, the publication of the newspaper, entitled “Izvestia of the Yuzovsky Urevkom and the Communist Party of the RCP,” continued. The newspaper received the name "Labor Dictatorship" in May 1920 and was then an organ of the Republic of KP (b) U and the Executive Committee of the Yuzovsky District. In the summer of 1932, the announcement was published in the “Dictatorship of Labor”: “ On August 1, the “ Dictatorship of Labor ”was reorganized into the newspaper“ Socialist Donbass ”- an organ of the Donetsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party (B) U, the Regional Executive Committee, the Regional Trade Bureau, the Stalin City Party Committee, the City Council and the GSPS. The newspaper received two state awards: the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, awarded on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the first issue of the newspaper, and the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in connection with the release of the 10,000th issue.

Modern newspaper

In 1991, the newspaper was renamed for the last time. By that time, the regional committee of the Communist Party remained the sole founder of the newspaper, since the regional council of people's deputies had left the founders. Since August 1991, the newspaper became known as the Donbass , and only the editorial staff was its founder.

As of 2007, Donbass has the largest number of subscribers among the Donetsk regional newspapers. The newspaper publishes the application " The owner ", " Zodiac ", " Sport Arena ", " Rook " and the free advertising and informational application " Donbass. Donetsk issue ". Correspondent points of the newspaper "Donbass" operate in the cities of Bakhmut , Dobropolye , Dokuchaevsk , Enakievo , Kramatorsk , Telmanovo and Torez .
