Appearance
A small moving bird is smaller than a sparrow . The body length is from 11.5 to 12.5 cm. The color of the upper side of the body is light, yellowish-gray, the lower side of the body is buffy white, there are white stripes on the sides of the tail. The rainbow is yellow, the legs are light, yellow-brown. The beak is thin, yellowish in color. Sexual dimorphism is not expressed.
Distribution
The species is common in northwestern Africa and Asia. Inhabit desert shrubs and saxaul forests . Migratory bird . They publish a quiet crack. The song is sonorous, sounds reminiscent of "tiri-tiryu-tyu-tyuyuyu."
Reproduction
Breeds in semi-deserts in western North Africa and in the steppes north of the Caspian Sea. Nests howls in the bushes. In clutch usually 4-5 white eggs with brown specks.
Subspecies
- S. n. nana the upper side of the body is gray-brown, lives in the east of the range in Asia, migratory bird;
- S. n. deserti the upper side of the body is light, yellow-beige, lives in the west of the range in northern Africa, a settled bird.
