History

Due to the strict anti-Nazi laws of Germany, the group for a long time existed in an atmosphere of secrecy, not giving concerts and keeping secret the names of the participants [2] . Four albums were recorded abroad and distributed by mail or via the Internet [1] .

In 2003, three Landser members were prosecuted for creating an organized crime group , glorifying Nazism, and inciting ethnic hatred. The band’s vocalist Michael Regener (also known by the nickname Luni - from the GDR vodka brand Lunikoff ) was sentenced to forty months in prison, drummer Christian Wendorf and guitarist Andreas Merike received suspended sentences and 90 hours of community service each [1] . On March 10, 2005, the German Supreme Court dismissed the Regen appeal. [2] After 2003, Landser ceased operations, but until the appeal was considered, Regener remained at large and, together with the musicians of another neo-Nazi group Spreegeschwader, had the opportunity to perform under the name Die Lunikoff Verschwörung ( German: Lunikoff Conspiracy ). Before going to prison, Regener played a concert at the congress of the National Democratic Party of Germany in Thuringen [3] .

Later, another Landser member, Jean-René Bauer, was sentenced to a fine for buying weapons and distributing Landser CDs.

On October 21, 2006, hundreds of neo-Nazis staged a demonstration near Tegel Prison in Berlin, where Regener was detained, demanding his release [4] . In February 2008, Regener was released [5] . Landser are not reborn. Regener continues to perform with Die Lunikoff Verschwörung. In 2011, they released the album l-kaida .

Music

The music of Landser is RAC (Rock Against Communism) , some songs have a characteristic metallic character. Some of the Landser songs are non-political and based on old feast songs or glorify Germany’s past and healthy lifestyle. However, in most songs Nazism is glorified, political views hostile to Nazism (primarily liberalism and communism ), Israel are criticized, many Landser lyrics are directed against immigrants from Turkey , Africa and Poland [1] .

The most famous are the acoustic ballad "Rudolf Heß" ( Rudolf Hess , who spent more than forty years in prison, is considered a martyr for the ideals of Nazism) and the song "Sturmführer" (with it. - " Sturmführer "), dedicated to Regen's grandfather, who served in the SS troops . The song “Freiheit” ( Freedom ) is also very popular.
