Biography
Born in the noble family of La Valette-Parisot, in the family of Senor Parisot, whose ancestors received the nobility in the 14th century, having acquired the land and castle of Parisot, contrary to popular belief, that this family is from the count family of Toulouse.
In 1534, de la Valette commanded the galley , and in 1540 he had his own galliot . In 1540 he was captured by the Turks and for a year was a galley slave. For some time he was governor of Tripoli .
On August 21, 1557, de la Valette became the Grand Master of the Order of Malta , which many European and Muslim states recognized as the sovereign ruler of Malta . In 1565, Turkey equipped a squadron with 35,000 troops against Malta. De la Vallette led the defense and repelled the enemy attack. In honor of the Grand Master, the new capital of Malta was named Valletta .
