Geography
Located 225 km from the island of Mangarev .
History
The atoll was discovered in 1606 by a Spanish navigator originally from Portugal Pedro Fernandez Quiroz .
Population
In 2007, Matureivavao was uninhabited, although from time to time the atoll is visited by residents of other islands.
Administrative division
Administratively part of the commune of Gambier .
