“Like Mercury Aloe” is Mumiy Troll’s third studio album. The album was released on February 5, 2000. Our radio refused to rotate the album except for the song “Bride?”, Because by that time this album was already in rotation on MAXIMUM radio .

The album contains four super hits, for each of which, as well as to the song “Strawberry”, the clips were filmed: “Carnival. No ”,“ My Singer ”,“ Bride? ”And“ Without Cheating ”. In support of the album, Mercury Aloe Tour (February 2000 - April 2001) and No Cheating were held. Tour (the second part of the Mercury Aloe Tour, which began on September 28, 2000).
Background and Record
On November 21, 1997, the second album of the Mumiy Troll group, Caviar , was released, after which the group went on a big tour “So It Should”. The tour lasted from October 1997 to December 28, 1998, with breaks in January and April 1998 .
On January 27, 1998 a video was shot for the song "Dolphins".
In April 1998, the group recorded a double album, Shamora. The Truth About Mummies and Trolls. ” The release of the first part of "Shamora" took place on July 28, the second part was released on August 5. Mumiy Troll does not consider Shamora a studio album, since Shamora is a collection of old songs of the group recorded between 1983 and 1990 . Songs from Shamora were captured on New Moon April albums ( 1985 ), Do Yu Yu ( 1990 ), Sayonara demos ( 1986 ), or performed at concerts.
On December 1, 1998, the maxi-single “Happy New Year, Baby!” Was released. It contained 10 tracks: a studio and concert version of the song "Happy New Year, Baby!" And 8 remixes of already released songs.
In May 1999, Mumiy Troll prepared demos for the next studio album.
On November 8, 1999, the single “ Bride? ”, Published in two versions. The video for the song was filmed in October. December 31 released the second single - “Carnival. Not". The video for the song was shot in late December, and on January 16, 2000, it premiered on TV.
Release and Promotion
The album was released on February 5, after which the group went on a Mercury Aloe Tour in Russia and abroad.
In early April, the video for the song “Without Cheating” was shot; its premiere took place on July 10 on MTV Russia . On April 8, in St. Petersburg, at the 1999 FUZZ Magazine Award Ceremony, the Mumiy Troll group received a prize in the nomination “Best Clip of the Year” for the clip “Bride?”, As well as a prize for Best Music Site of the Year, which was named the group’s site .
May 19 was the release of the third single in support of the album - “Without Cheating”. The single was released as an appendix to the next issue of the journal "Neon", dedicated to the group completely. The single was released on CD later, on July 24, with a modified track list.
In early September, a new video for the song “Strawberry” appeared on TV screens, shot at the band’s performance at the Maxidrom festival. September 28 began Without Cheating. Group tour.

On October 24-27, a video for the song “My Singer” was shot in Prague .
On November 25, an unusual concert of Mumiy Troll took place in Gostiny Dvor in Moscow, which was attended not only by the band’s musicians, but also by a number of invited musicians - the Globalis Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Grooves Institute DJs, Olesya Lyashenko and Katya Shalaeva on backing vocals, Sergey Mazaev, a group of Facts from Riga and others.
December 20 released the fourth single from the album - “My Singer”.
On January 3, 2001, on the MTV Russia channel, the premiere of the video “My Singer” took place, and at the end of January the group went on a tour again, which lasted until the beginning of April. During the tour, the group gave 150 concerts in the territory of the former USSR and abroad. The last concert of the tour took place on April 3 in Moscow at the Olimpiysky Sports Complex .
In the second half of February, the group visited Germany, where they recorded the first song for Meamura's next album. She became the song Promises, also recorded in English under the title Lady Alpine Blue . With the latter, the group will perform at Eurovision 2001 .
Clip plots
5 clips were shot for songs from the album.
The clip “Bride?”, Directed by Victor Wilks, was not immediately understood by the audience in the cartoon-game style of pop art using the latest technology of the 90s, later it received more than one Russian music award and the most enthusiastic reviews from both critics and viewers.
The rock-thriller “Karnavala.net”, as conceived by the director Andrei Kuznetsov, embodied the connection between the past and the future - the characters of all past MT clips came together at one big Carnival.
The video for the song “Without Deception” has a complicated plot, built on the advertisement of a certain new perfume “Mercury Aloe No10”. The video shows flying tractors with a joystick control system, the center of the perfume corporation - the mercury Aloe Building going to heaven, beautiful models and musicians themselves in cowboy hats.
The concert video for the song "Strawberry", shot at the Maxidrom festival by Anton Bormotov in May 2000, was a great opportunity for fans of the group to plunge into the ocean of emotions of the huge raging "Olympic".
The fifth clip for the tragic song "My Singer" was shot in Prague by Pavel Ruminov. In this video, the main character performed by Ilya Lagutenko is tried to be executed on the guillotine for the cause of the rockapops, but the clip ends with a happy ending.

Interesting Facts
The premiere of the video " Carnival.Net " was scheduled for New Year's Eve on January 1, 2000 on the ORT channel (now Channel One ). However, on December 31, 1999 , Russian President Boris Yeltsin announced his resignation and appointed Vladimir Putin as successor. Director General of ORT Channel Konstantin Ernst considered that a song with the words “There will be no carnival, no carnival, everything will drown in tears” may be misinterpreted and postponed the premiere.
