In exercises in the vault and on parallel bars, he took second place, losing first to the German Karl Schumann , and then to German Weingertner . On the crossbar, he did not take a prize.
He became the only Swiss athlete to win a medal, and thanks to him alone, Switzerland took tenth place in the unofficial medal standings.
