D1 ( fr. Char de bataille D1 ) - French light (sometimes refers to the middle ) infantry tank of the 1920s . Created on the basis of the tank NC 27 , during the mass production 160 copies were produced. It was mass produced in 1932-1935 . It was originally used in Algeria , with the beginning of World War II, some of them were transferred to France, where they took part in the battles of 1940 . The remaining tanks in Africa were used by French troops until March 1943 .

Modifications
- D1A - basic modification, produced only 10 copies;
- D1B - the main production modification, with a 47-mm SA34 cannon, increased armor and a more powerful engine, 100 tanks were launched;
- Char Observatoire - one copy of the D1, converted into a command vehicle with the tower removed and an additional radio station .
