In the 1930s and 1940s, he collaborated with Orson Welles (a famous radio play on War of the Worlds , Citizen Kane ). He created the musical accompaniment for all the films of Alfred Hitchcock , shot from 1955 to 1964. His masterpiece is considered to be the soundtrack to Hitchcock's Psycho . After a fight with Hitchcock, he worked with François Truffaut (“ 451 degrees Fahrenheit ”, “ The Bride Was in Black ”) and Brian de Palma . The last work is music for “ Taxi Driver ” (dir. Martin Scorsese , 1976 ).
Herrmann's works not only influenced Angelo Badalamenti and The Beatles ( Eleanor Rigby ), but also continue to be used in contemporary films (for example, “ Kill Bill ” by Quentin Tarantino ).
