Yusup Mutushevich Elmurzayev ( December 16, 1956 , Ayagoz , Semipalatinsk Region , Kazakh SSR , USSR - June 8, 1996 ) - historian, author of over thirty scientific works and two books (Ismayili Duda and The Pages of the History of the Chechen People). Hero of the Russian Federation .

Biography

A resident of the city of Urus-Martan, Urus-Martan district of the Chechen Republic . In 1974 he graduated from secondary school No. 2 in Urus-Martan. In the years 1974-1976 he served in the Soviet army in Hungary. In 1977 he entered the Chechen-Ingush State University at the Faculty of History.

He began his career in 1977 as a history teacher at the secondary school No. 4 of the city of Urus-Martan. In 1983, the district department of public education of the Urus-Martan district moved to work as an inspector. In 1989, he was elected to the Supreme Council of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . In 1979, he married a native of the village of Alkhan-Yurt Baybatyrova Aiset Shitaevna, born in 1957. Three sons (1980, 1983, 1985 year of birth) and daughter (1990 year of birth). He has scientific works, is the author of several works on the history of the development of Chechen nationality and culture.

In 1994, he was appointed head of the administration of the Urus-Martan district of the Chechen Republic. After the outbreak of the First Chechen War, he performed an intermediary mission between the parties to the conflict, protecting the region from destruction. Being formally a protege of the pro-Moscow government, he managed to maintain correct relations with supporters of the CRI and make the region a real zone of peace, for which he enjoyed great authority among the population of Chechnya [1] .

On June 8, 1996, in the line of duty as a result of an attempt, he was killed along with his comrades Elmurzaev Najmudin Shamsudinovich, Ashabov Said-Emin Magomedovich and Elderkhanov Abubakar Umarovich.

For courage and selflessness shown in defending the constitutional order and establishing law and order in the Chechen Republic by decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 856 dated June 11, 1996, Elmurzaev Yusup Mutushevich, the head of the administration of the Urus-Martan district of the Chechen Republic, was awarded the title Hero of Russia (posthumously). The comrades who died with him were posthumously awarded the Orders of Courage .
