Rebate in the field of sales promotion - return to the buyer part of the cost of the goods (services) after presenting evidence of the purchase of the goods or services (usually above a certain threshold). Rebate (or retro-bonus) is often offered by large companies to their distributors and dealers (usually at the expense of the following purchases), less often to end consumers.

Rebate in merchant shipping - a discount from the tariff presented by shipowners to consignors for sending goods only on shipowner's ships.
